🎶 Meet Our Staff Singers

Amia Langer

Amia Langer, our new soprano staff singer, is a native New Jerseyan who earned her Master’s degree from the University of Houston in 2023. With a background in musical theater and dance, she has recently performed with Chautauqua Opera Company, Festival Napa Valley, and Grand Teton Music Festival. In Spring 2026, she will return to Ars Lyrica Houston for their production of L’Orfeo and make her company debut with Mercury Chamber Orchestra. Outside of teaching and performing music, Amia is an avid reader, scrapbooker, and home baker.

Siwei Zhang
Staff Singer
Siwei Zhang, our alto staff singer since the fall of 2023, is a Chinese soprano who holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Peabody Conservatory and a Performance Certificate from the University of Houston. An active opera performer, she has sung roles including Magda in La Rondine, Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with companies such as Opera in the Ozarks, Opera in the Heights, and Lone Star Lyric. She has been performing with Houston Grand Opera as a Teaching Artist since 2022.

Chris Truong
Staff Singer
Chris Truong, our tenor staff singer, has sung with St. Stephen’s choir since the fall of 2021. By day, he serves as Associate Director of Admissions & Recruitment at Sam Houston State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, selecting and creating pathways for future physicians and pre-meds across Texas. A proud Longhorn, Chris earned degrees in Biology, Music, and Vocal Pedagogy at UT before starting his Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at SHSU. Outside of work and school, he can be found cooking, playing board games with friends, or cuddling his chihuahua, Miss Belle (after the Disney princess, of course). He’s grateful to continue to support the music ministry and be a part of the wonderful community here at St. Stephen’s for another great year.

Andrew Nelson
Staff Singer
Andrew Nelson, our bass staff singer, earned his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of North Texas College of Music. From 2015–2018, he shared his love of music as an adjunct professor at Guizhou Normal University in Guiyang, China. He currently serves as Assistant Choir Director in Pasadena ISD. Fluent in Mandarin, Andrew enjoys traveling to China with his wife, Xinlu, and daughter, Julia. Andrew has been singing with St. Stephen’s Choir since the fall of 2018 and is excited to join the choir for another wonderful season.
