Leadership
The Vestry reflects St. Stephen’s imaginative energy.
Vestry
St. Stephen’s Vestry consists of twelve members elected by the congregation to terms of three years: four members are elected each year at the parish’s annual membership meeting in January.
The Vestry has two officers, the Senior Warden and the Junior Warden. The rector chooses the Senior Warden and the Vestry elects the Junior Warden. The Vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The basic responsibilities of the Vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances. To serve on the Vestry, a member needs to be an enrolled, confirmed, contributing communicant in good standing of the Parish and accede to the doctrine, discipline and worship of the Episcopal Church.
